When I recieved my product I had a few ideas! Last week I was at a girfriends weekend filled with some amazing artist friends! I had so much fun sharing my idea and the Hazel & Ruby products I chose with them!
There is nothing i love more than great quotes and words and Subway art! Liz, her darling sister Sally and I created these awesome signs using some re-pourposed wood Christy had around her studio and warehouse! I love the idea of taking a piece of junk and making it new! These stencil-masks are so easy to use that it was EASY! Here's how we created our Subway art!
Supplies: an old crate, a piece of wood, or in our case we used the old flooring in Christy's Sauna! Decou-page, Mod Podge or wet adhesive. Foam Brush Scissors Spray Paint Hazle & Ruby Stencil-Masks Hazle & Ruby Pass the Tissue Paper! Cut strips of the Pass the Tissue Paper and adhere to your wood slats. to speed up the drying process I used my heat gun.
once it was completley dry I placed my quote onto the slats. Tip: I start a word or sentence in the middle and work my way out.
Because my quote was long I had to split it into 2 parts! To get a true Subway Art look and feel we used Spray Paint. LOVE the way it turned out!
I I covered the bottom half of my project with a Paper Towel, using washi tape! LOL
I LOVE the way the spray paint let some of the Pass the Tissue Paper show thruogh! once I had the top half sprayed I let it completely dry again before I took the stencil-masks off.
once the top half was dry I finished the second half, covering the top with the paper towel again!
once it was all done I knew I wanted to make the words stand out.
I used a Scarlet Lime doodling pen to outline the letters! it really helped the words POP! LOVE. Such a fun and easy Project to create! Liz's finished project:
and Sally's: We had such a fun time creating these Subway Art pieces. I hope you are inspired to go create one for yourself! For more fun projects for Summer you can take my on-line workshop Spark your Summer! I'm using more of the Fun Hazle Ruby products they gave me!
